Our History

At The Hamlet, we offer the best there is in British food, beverages, vinyl records, books and countless gift items for fellow ex-pats, anglophiles, and all who enter our doors hoping for a unique, authentic shopping experience.

Drew, our very own ex-pat, was born in the idyllic Lake District town of Kendal and grew up in Cheshire, England. Leigh was born and raised in the US, but enjoys learning about and experiencing all things British, and travelling there as often as possible.

We opened during the pandemic, when everyone was greatly missing being able to visit friends, family and the beautiful countryside of the UK. Opening our store and filling the shelves with British foods, beverages, books, vinyl and gift items helped to fill that void for us, and hopefully for our many customers who have come through the door since then.

The last two years have exceeded our wildest dreams and expectations. Our customers have become our friends and our staff has become our family.

We can't wait to see where the next few years take this little dream of ours.

Meet Our Manager - Jon Robinson

Jon is our proud manager who was welcomed into The Hamlet family with open arms in June of 2021. Born in Essex, England, growing up in a small town called Wickford, he was blessed with the best of both worlds. While living in the UK, he was able to quickly travel into central London while also enjoying a British seaside getaway at Southend-on-Sea. So, depending on your visit to The Hamlet, you could be welcomed by an Essex boy or a cockney Londoner.

Outside of providing British pleasantries in Mount Kisco, NY or enjoying a cup of Yorkshire Tea, Jon is also a singer-songwriter who loves Joy Division. Having extended family ties to Manchester, he is an avid supporter of Man City. He also enjoys spending his free time with his lovely family and loyal hound dog.

Where we are

Our new shop is conveniently located at 23 S. Moger Avenue in Mount Kisco, NY. We’re thrilled to be part of the community of locally owned businesses in Mount Kisco.

When we moved here in 2013, the idea of owning a shop in town was just a dream. Fast-forward to 2021, and here we are.

We have served thousands of happy customers since opening our doors, and with our online shop, we are able to reach thousands more.

An eclectic mix of all things British. We’re all about offering all the best and the latest treasures from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
