Robert Burns 263rd Birthday Celebration

This Saturday, January 22nd at 3pm we will have a special event to celebrate Robert Burns 263rd birthday.

We will have haggis, neeps & tatties and Irn Bru to sample. Our celebrity piper will be playing outside the shop and will pipe the haggis in for us and we will be addressing the haggis. On top of that, we will have specials on lots of Scottish products.

Two legends will be helping us:

Lorne Cousin – known as the Scottish piper to the stars – is a Grade 1 piper, having played, taught and judged at the very highest levels in the piping world. Originally from Campeltown, Lorne is now based in New York and works with Glenfiddich whisky. He toured the world as Madonna’s piper in the smash hit Reinvention Tour and has worked with other notables such as Missy Elliott, Stella McCartney and Brian Cox.

Andrew Weir – local to Mount Kisco but originally from Ayr – is considered one of the world’s foremost performers of Burns works when it comes to recitation. He was the Scottish champion for recitation in 1997 and has performed his works all over the world. For years he was the face of Burns on the Scottish government’s website Scotland.org and for two separate campaigns at Disney’s Epcot center in Florida. He is now a successful marketing executive in the spirits industry, having managed and grown brands such as The Balvenie and Aberlour but before that he was an actor – notably as Young Hamish in Braveheart and Simon in Still Game.
